Does Nikon D5300 Have Autofocus?

Most camera buyers do some research before buying cameras, and it’s good to do your market research. If you just typed in, does Nikon D5300 have autofocus, then it means you’re interested in knowing about Nikon D5300, or you’re serious about buying this camera.

It’s time to stop scratching your head because you’re about to find out whether or not Nikon D5300 has autofocus. The answer is Yes; Nikon D5300 does have an autofocus feature. However, you got to read this blog post for more details.

It’s a no-brainer that you want to know about the features or qualities of the camera. I’m a Nikon D5300 user, so I can talk about it with some confidence. Even though I’m no expert at camera gear, but I might be able to help.

Before I shed some light on the different areas of Nikon D5300 autofocus settings, you should that I have been testing the autofocus on a fairly old camera.

I have been using my Nikon D5300 DSLR for the past four years. Even though the autofocus works quite okay, it shifts to the background when I make a little movement. I have noticed that when focus goes back and forth between the subject and background, it doesn’t bring pleasing footage.

It might be a factor as vlogging is different than usual sit-down videos. Vloggers tend to be active and on-the-go all the time. However, if you’re into regular videos, meaning you put the camera on the tripod and sit on the chair to talk to the camera, then you’ll be fine.

The Nikon D3500 DX-format DSLR camera comes with a Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. It has a built-in pulse motor for smooth and quiet focus. I’ve bought Nikon D5300 with the same lens, and I have never had any issues with it.

Does Nikon D5300 Autofocus with NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8 D lens?

Unfortunately, the Nikon D3500 DX-format DSLR cameras don’t have built-in focus motors, which means AF-type lenses, like the Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8 D lens, don’t autofocus. The camera users might have to manually focus while using a NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8 D lens.

How Long Does Nikon D5300 take to autofocus?

My Nikon D5300 DSLR camera has a NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens on, and it takes a maximum of 3 to 4 seconds to autofocus on AF-A settings. Since my camera and kit lens was bought in 2017, and both products are fairly old. If you have a slightly new camera, then it may take 1 to 2 seconds to autofocus.

What’s the Difference Between AF-A, AF-S, and AF-C Focus Modes?

AF-A means auto-servo; in this focus mode, the camera selects automatically between the single-servo and continuous-servo according to the subject movement and shooting conditions.

AF-S is single-servo, which requires the cameraman to press the shutter button halfway through to focus on the subject. All you need is to point the camera to the subject and press the shutter button halfway through, and you’ll hear the focus sound too.

AF-C is continuous-servo; it is a focus setting suitable for moving objects, especially when the focus needs to be shifted from one object to another.

Would You Buy a Nikon D5300 DSLR Camera?

Let me know if you’re considering this DSLR camera.
